PCD, Offset (ET) & Wheel Fitment Guide

Mastering Wheel Geometry: Flush Stance Without Rubbing

Achieving the perfect wheel fitment requires an exact balance of three primary dimensions: Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD), Offset (ET), and Center Bore (CB). At VeroX, every set is custom-machined down to 0.01mm to ensure flush fender alignment, maximum concave spoke depth, and zero brake caliper interference.

1. Understanding Offset (ET) & Backspacing

Wheel offset—abbreviated from the German word Einpresstiefe (ET)—is the distance in millimeters from the wheel’s true centerline to the mounting hub pad surface:

  • Positive Offset (+ET): The hub mounting surface is positioned toward the front (street side) of the wheel. Typical on modern FWD and AWD performance vehicles (e.g. +35 to +50mm).
  • Zero Offset (ET0): The mounting surface is exactly dead-center with the wheel barrel.
  • Negative Offset (-ET): The hub mounting surface is recessed toward the back, resulting in a deep dish lip or wide-stance truck fitment (e.g. -12mm to -44mm).
Fitment Category Visual Characteristic Vehicle Applications Engineering Considerations
OEM+ Flush Fitment Tire sits flush with outer fender arch Porsche 911, BMW M3/M4, Audi RS, Corvette Zero fender rolling required, optimal scrub radius.
Aggressive / Deep Concave Spokes arc inward with minimal hub drop Supercars, Widebody Builds, Track GTs Requires careful X-Factor calculation over BBK calipers.
Extreme Deep Lip (Modular) Step-lip / rolled lip up to 5+ inches Classic Restomods, Custom VIP Sedans 2-Piece or 3-Piece modular bolted assembly.

2. PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) Explained

The PCD specifies the number of lug bolt holes and the diameter of the imaginary circle passing through their centers:

  • 5×112: Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW (G-Chassis), Toyota Supra (MKV), Porsche Macan.
  • 5×114.3 (5×4.5″): Mustang, Nissan GT-R, Lexus, Subaru STI, Tesla Model 3/Y.
  • 5×120: BMW (E & F Chassis), Chevrolet Corvette C8/C7, Honda Civic Type R (FK8).
  • 5×130: Porsche 911, Cayman/Boxster, Panamera.
  • Centerlock: Bespoke single-nut racing mechanism for Porsche GT3/Turbo S and Lamborghini STO.

3. X-Factor & Big Brake Kit (BBK) Clearance

Many aftermarket wheels focus only on width and offset, resulting in the spokes contacting Brembo or Carbon Ceramic calipers. VeroX utilizes 3D CAD modeling to engineer the X-Factor clearance profile, machining concave spokes that arch over massive multi-piston calipers while maximizing outer concave depth.
